Dr. Van De Walle

Dr. Van De Walle was the youngest of seven children in Hondo, TX. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Civil Engineering. After a brief three-year stint working in the engineering field, he decided to start a career as a dentist. Dr. Van De Walle attended dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, graduating Cum Laude in 2004. Van De Walle Family Dentistry has been open in San Marcos since 2005. 

Dr. Van De Walle met his wife in 1994 while they attended Texas A&M together. They married in 1998 and have two beautiful children born in 2004 and 2008. 

Besides being busy with his family, Dr. Van De Walle’s hobbies include fishing, golf, and traveling with his family. 


Dr. Tompkins

Dr. Tompkins grew up in Cypress, TX just outside of Houston. He attended Texas A&M University after which he attended UT Medical Branch in Galveston where he earned a master’s degree and became a Physician Assistant.Dr. Tompkins and his wife moved to San Marcos, where he worked for several years in a family medicine clinic as well as the emergency department at CTMC. 

He then chose to pursue a different career and attended dental school at UTHSCSA. In dental school, Dr. Tompkins received the Delta Dental Student Leadership Award and the Dr. Robert Dale Award for outstanding compassionate patient care. After graduating from dental school he attended a one-year residency at UTHSCSA, studying IV and oral sedation, implant placement, and bone grafting procedures. Today, Dr. Tompkins enjoys spending time with his wife Chesney, who is a social studies teacher at New Braunfels Middle School, their two children, Emery, and Lucas, as well as their two dogs, Duke and Dixie. Dr. Tompkins also enjoys hunting, fishing, and anything about Aggie sports.
